Voice: voice

Values: Act Inv Appl Antip

In Kadiwéu, Voice is a feature of verbs.

There are three morphological voice markers in Kadiwéu, one for the inverse voice, the other for applicative and antipassive constructions.

Act: active

This is the default value.

Examples

Inv: inverse

According to Galves et al. (2017:635), “Kadiwéu has an inverse voice system and the verb is marked by an inverse morpheme whenever there is fronting of an internal argument (that occurs with any second or first-person internal argument […], unaccusative and reflexive verbs, among other fronting structures).”

Examples

Appl: applicative

The applicative voice is marked by suffixes that “appear whenever a language as Portuguese or English would have prepositions” (Galves et al. 2017:635).

Examples

Antip: antipassive

TODO (Galves et al. 2017:635).
