ccomp: clausal complement

A clausal complement of a verb or adjective is a dependent clause which is a core argument. That is, it functions like an object of the verb, or adjective.

In predicative constructions with the copula bitito be’, such as in the sentence Pomembno je, da ostanemo mirni ‘It is important that we stay calm.’, the Slovenian treebanks currently analyse such clauses as clausal subjects (csubj) rather than clausal complements (ccomp).

The ccomp relation is also used for linking together the reported clause and the reporting clause in reported speech. Regardless of the order in which the two clauses appera, the head of the relation is always the reporting clause, while the reported clause is the dependent.
