is used for demonstrative pronouns and interrogative pronouns. See Jacobson (2001, p. 107-114) for more details about the demonstratives.
Examples
- iigna “the one over there (restricted)”
- paagna “the one up there (extended)”
- paamna “the one up there (obscured)”
- sameng “what”
- kitu “who”
Note on demonstratives
- restricted: within sight of the speaker and stationary, or moving in a restricted area
- extended: spread out, lengthy or moving across the field of view of the speaker
- obscured: not (clearly) visible to the speaker
