Tense:

This feature takes the following values: Past, Pres.

There are two stems in Middle Persian:

Following traditions, these two stem are referred to as tense stem. Infinitives and verbal nouns are not marked for tense.

The elements of analytic verb forms are analysed individually.

Past: Past tense (or perfective aspect, respectively)

The feature ‘past’ is only annotated with the so-called past participle, e.g. raft “moved, gone”

Pres: Present tense (or imperfective aspect, respectively)

The feature ‘present’ is annotated with finite verb forms and the present participle, e.g. rawēnd “(they) move, go”, rawān “moving”.
