The Tense feature applies to VERB.
Pres: present tense
The present tense denotes actions that are happening right now or that usually happen.
Examples
- სულო ჭეშმარიტებისაო, რომელი ყოველგან ხარ და ყოველივეს აღავსებ მადლითა შენითა. ‘O Spirit of Truth, who are everywhere and fill everything with Your grace.’
Imp: imperfect tense
The imperfect denotes ongoing, repeated or continuous actions in the past.
Examples
- და კუალად ქუჱ დადრკა, და წერდა ქუეყანასა. ‘And again he bent down and was writing on the ground.’
Fut: future tense
The future tense expresses actions that will happen later.
Examples
- მივითუალე ლერწამი, რაჲთა დავწერო თავისუფლებაჲ ნათესავისა კაცთაჲსაჲ. ‘Give me a reed, so that I may write the freedom of the race of men.’
Past: past tense
The past (aorist) denotes a completed action in the past.
Examples
- _შევიპყარ იგი და არა გაუტეო იგი. _ ‘I seized him and did not let him go.’
PastPerf: past perfect
The past perfect expresses an action completed before another past action or emphasizes prior experience.
Examples
- ნეტარ არიან, რომელთა არა უხილავ და ვჰრწმენე. ‘Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’
Pqp: pluperfect tense
The pluperfect denotes an action completed before another past event.
Examples
- ხოლო კორნილიოს მიელოდა მათ, შემოეკრიბა თესლ-ტომი მისი
და საყუარელნი მეგობარნი მისნი. ‘But Cornelius was waiting for them, and had gathered his relatives and close friends.’
