obj: object

obj marks the second core argument of a verb. These are typically in the accusative case, which is unmarked for inanimate objects or non-specific objects, for instance: मी पक्षी बघतो / mī pakṣī baghato “I watch birds (as a hobby)”. The accusative case is marked similar to the dative for animate, specific objects or for objects of verbs that imply animacy, such as: मी पक्ष्यांना बघतो / mī pakṣyāṃnā baghato “I watch birds (specific birds)”.
