Adverbs are words that typically modify verbs for such categories as time, place, direction or manner.
Interrogative adverbs are tagged as ADV
.

- sangavek “why”
- qavngaq “when”
- naten “how”
The quantifier-qualifier construction serves as adverbial function (Jacobson 2001, p. 76-78) and is tagged as ADV
.

- allakagh “separately from others”
- ellnginagh- “alone (base)” (as in ellnginaan “only, inflected for 3rd person singular”)
