Gender has two values in Welsh, Masculine and Feminine. All nouns have a gender, some nouns can be either masculine or feminine. A few adjective have distinct forms for masculine and feminine (gwyn/gwen “white”, trwm, trom “heavy”). However adjectives following a feminin (singular) noun are soft mutated. The definite article does not change for Gender, however feminin singular nouns are soft mutated after the article. The numerals dau/dwy “two”, tri/tair “three” and pedwar/pedair “four” have distinct forms for each Gender
