Animacy: animacy for nouns
This feature takes the following values:

For Middle Persian, they have been facultatively annotated based on the semantic interpretation. In Zoroastrianism, many things like rivers or stars are or can be seen as animate. In case of doubt, animacy has not been indicated.
Animacy does not appear to have any grammatical relevance in Middle Persian.
Anim: Animate
Animate is used for supernatural beings or unspecified general.
Examples:
- gyānwar “living being”
Hum: Human
Human is used for common nouns referring to humans as well as collectives.
Examples:
- kār “people”
Inan: Inanimate
Inanimate is used for words denoting everything but living beings.
Examples:
- sang “stone”
- dānišn “knowledge”
Nhum: Non-human
Non-human is used for animals but not for plants.
Examples:
- sag “dog”.
