Common preconjunct patterns include
- ayāb … ayāb … ‘either … or …’
- čē … čē … ‘whether … or …’ or ‘be it …, be it …’
- ham … ham … ‘both … and …’
- nē … nē … ‘neither … nor …’ and possibly also:
- ud … ud … ‘… as well as …’
However, the coordinating conjunction ud ‘and’ is written with a simple stroke that allows for other interpretations as well (e.g. a word-end marker). It is also often omitted in the manuscripts, and sometimes one finds additional strokes that can hardly be considered coordinators. The preconjunct relation can therefor not be established beyond doubt.
