ADP: adposition

Definition

Adposition is a cover term for prepositions and postpositions.

Swedish has prepositions but not postpositions (except in a few fixed archaic phrases). In Swedish, some prepositions may also function as verb particles, as in säga till “tell” or komma åt “get at”. They are still tagged ADP and not PART.

Examples

Treebank Statistics (UD_Swedish)

There are 84 ADP lemmas (1%), 84 ADP types (1%) and 11117 ADP tokens (11%). Out of 15 observed tags, the rank of ADP is: 7 in number of lemmas, 7 in number of types and 2 in number of tokens.

Morphology

The form / lemma ratio of ADP is 1.000000 (the average of all parts of speech is 1.421413).

The 1st highest number of forms (1) was observed with the lemma “a”: a.

The 2nd highest number of forms (1) was observed with the lemma “alltefter”: alltefter.

The 3rd highest number of forms (1) was observed with the lemma “angående”: angående.

ADP does not occur with any features.
