Epenthesis: presence of an epenthetic consonant
Yes: presence of an epenthetic consonant
The feature is used to indicate words to which an epenthetic consonant was added, for example: So-n-e scheens Hardfir “such a beautiful fire”. Epenthetic consonants are added between two vowels at a word boundary to avoid hiatus (in Alsatian, usually n, but also w).
Examples
- Morn gehwi uf Strosburi. “Tomorrow I go to Strasbourg.”
- wie er ingfuehrt wùrre-n-isch “which was introduced”
