Semantic subclasses of ADV. Note that the PronType feature also applies to some adverbs and is orthogonal to AdvType.
Loc: locative adverbs
Demonstrative roots ba “PROX”, huĩ “MED”, mo “DEM.DOWN”, to “DEM.UP”, and yo “DEM.LVL”, when used with the locative Case marking.
Examples
- bai “here”, huĩsaiʔ “there”
- umu “right down there”, uttu “right up there”, uyuta “right there”
- ammu “way down there”, attu “way up there”, aiyu “over there”
Man: manner adverbs
Marked by the demonstrative modal case -khiʔ, -ʌso, or demonstrative method case -khiʔnɨŋ, -ʌsʌri.
Examples
- huŋkhi “like that”, joso “however”
- hokhiʔni “how”, josoriyaŋ “any way”
Ext: extension adverbs
Marked by the extensional -tta, which denotes the same size as a referent in the area demarcated by the demonstrative base.
Examples
- batta “as big as this”, motta “as big as down there”, atta “how big”.
Qua: quantifier adverbs
Marked by the extensional -ʌti, which denotes the same quantity as a referent in the area demarcated by the demonstrative base.
Examples
- utti “that much”, katti “how much”
