PrepCase
: prepositional case
Values: | Npr | Pre |
Personal pronouns in Spanish have different forms depending on whether they are objects of prepositions or not. For instance, Spanish yo “I” without prepositions has the form me in accusative and dative cases, while with a preposition it is mí.
Default empty value means that the word form is neutral with respect to prepositions.
Npr
: non-prepositional case
This word form must not be used after a preposition.
Examples:
- Yo voy a la escuela. “I go to school.”
- Ellos comen pizza. “They eat pizza.”
Pre
: prepositional case
This word form must be used after a preposition. In Spanish, only the pronouns mí, ti, and sí receive this feature in the UD treebanks.
Examples:
- A mí me gusta el chocolate. “I like chocolate.” (lit. “To me, me pleases the chocolate.”)
- Juan dio el regalo a ti. “Juan gave the gift to you.”
- Ella compró un regalo para sí misma. “She bought a gift for herself.”
In these examples, mí, ti, and sí are pronoun forms used after a preposition.
