VerbType: verb type

Values: Aux Cop Mod Pas

The VerbType feature is used in Afrikaans to further distinguish subtypes of auxiliary verbs.

Cop: copula verb

Verb used to make nominal predicates from adjectives, nouns or participles.

Examples

Aux: temporal auxiliary verb

Verb used to create periphrastic perfect tenses.

Pas: passive auxiliary verb

Verb used to create periphrastic passive voice: word (present) and wees (past).

Examples

Mod: modal verb

A group of auxiliary verbs that alter the mood of the clause (necessity, potentiality etc.) The future tense auxiliary is also considered modal.
