ADJ: adjective

Present, past and future participles are marked as ADJ, marked by the feature VerbForm. They are not comparable, thus their Degree feature is None, as opposed to normal adjectives. Common features for adjectives and participles are: Number, Case, Number[psor], Person[psor], Number[psed]. Non-participial adjectives also bear the feature NumType.

ADP: adposition

Hungarian postpositions are marked as ADP.

ADV: adverb

Adverbial subclasses are marked with the feature PronType. Some of them are comparable, thus they bear the Degree feature.

AUX: auxiliary verb

We consider the verbs “volna”, “fog”, “talál” and “szokott” as AUX in Hungarian.

DET: determiner

Demonstrative DETs may be inflected in Hungarian (as a from of grammatical agreement with the noun it precedes):

azokat a könyveket

These determiners bear the nominal inflectional features (Number, Case, Number[psor], Person[psor], Number[psed]).

Numbers bear the nominal inflectional features (Number, Case, Number[psor], Person[psor], Number[psed]), plus the NumType feature.

PART: particle

PARTs are those words in Hungarian that only function as preverbs and are not used elsewhere.

Besides the nominal inflectional features (Number, Case, Number[psor], Person[psor], Number[psed]), pronouns are marked for Number and Person and PronType. Reflexive pronouns bear the feature reflexive but no PronType.

VERB: verb

Verbal features are: VerbForm, Voice, Aspect, Mood, Tense, Person, Number, Definite. Definiteness refers to the definiteness of the object of the verb, which triggers different verbal forms:

Látok egy madarat. see-PRES-1SG-INDEF a bird-ACC “I see a bird.”
